This classed bibliography provides citations to all aspects of the hand-crafted textile traditions of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The initial sections provide access to reference bibliographies and textile glossaries, government publications (including accounts of textiles in census publications and gazetteers) and works issued by museums, galleries, collections and special exhibitions. Broad treatments of textiles, histories, accounts of the textiles of particular groups and of various communities, and religious textiles form the next segments of the work. The textile techniques section provides references to works made both by universal production methods as well as by specific types of crafts. The final sections deal with fibres and clothing. Geographic and personal name indices conclude the work. The author is the Curator of the Ames Library of South Asia at the University of Minnesota. He has published on numerous aspects of South Asian textiles.
